Henry Ford
DIRECTOR, ADVISER

P +64 9 361 3670

+64 27 710 2203

Henry comes from a farming background and has been a rural banker, farmer and a retail bank executive before becoming a personal financial adviser in 2007 when he started his own business. He merged this business into Rutherford Rede in 2015.

Henry married in 1982 and has three adult children and several grandchildren.  At this stage of life it is unwise to count the number of grandchildren!

He is involved in the community through Macular Degeneration New Zealand where he is the Chair and is also an active member of Parnell Rotary.  He is encouraging young people to be involved in community affairs and is focused more on that aspect now rather than traditional Rotary activities.

Henry specialises in counselling clients who have reached a turning point in their lives, either through bereavement, separation, retirement, inheritance or following the sale of a significant asset.  Helping people understand what they truly want from the best years of their lives is a very gratifying task for him.  He is happy to spend as much time as it takes to help his clients establish their needs and then to consider the best ways to make them happen.

Henry is passionate about sustainability and pesters office staff about recycling properly, caring for the office worm farm, securing gifts of honey and most importantly, eliminating energy drinks from staff diets.  He admits to being less than successful in some of these endeavours but does not intend giving up.

He believes that ESG investing is an effective way to manage risk and deploy capital to businesses that seek sustainable practices.  This is not only good for investment but good for society.  He practices sustainability in his gardening activities when he is not being beaten up on the golf course or cycling on roads and on the wonderful cycle trails that New Zealand offers.
